Photography Contest and Exhibit: Our photography contest is open to photographers of all ages and skills. Our youngest are preschoolers; our oldest are in their 90s. Visit our Photo Contest Winners section to see the work of this years winners.
Theatre Events: In 2001, The Arts and Humanities Council presented its first Drama in the Park production, Spoon River Anthology. Each Spring, Summer and Fall families are encouraged to bring blankets, yard chairs, and picnic baskets and join us in the park for an afternoon or evening of thespian fun.
Musical Events: A Summer evening of jazz, show music, chamber music, or some other musical form is our gift to our supporters. A picnic basket, a blanket on the grass, summer winds, and music are an unforgettable combination.
Scholarships: Encouraging community youngsters to participate in arts and humanities events is an important part of The Arts an Humanities Council's activities. Past scholarships have allowed young artists to attend dance and performance workshops as well as help participants in Odyssey of the Mind travel to national competitions. Scholarship recipients have been selected join major performing companies and have received many first places and other honors at competitions.
Future Plans: In upcoming years, The Arts and Humanities Council plans to develop a Writer's Showcase, a Talent Showcase, a public speaking event, or even a community string orchestra.
We further wish to develop a production based on the history and personalities of the local region. Our working title for this production is, Reminisce: Telling Our Story.
